Divisional commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba’s Abu Dujana was gunned down
New Delhi : Divisional commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba’s (LeT) Abu Dujana was gunned down inside a house in an encounter broke out between security forces and militants in south Kashmir's Pulwama district on Tuesday morning. Another LeT terrorist Arif Lilhaari was also killed in the encounter.
Abu Dujana carried Rs 10 lakh reward on his head.Abu Dujana had managed to escape from the security cordon in Pulwama in May. Two to Three Lashkar terrorists including Dujana had managed to flee as stone pelters prevented security forces from action. This was the fifth time that Lashkar commander Dujana managed to give a slip to the security forces in Kashmir.However, there is no official statement in this regard.
Hailing from Pakistan, Dujana infiltrated in Jammu and Kashmir from PoK in 2010 and since then he is not only operating in different parts of Kashmir but has also managed to establish strong local modules in South Kashmir.
At a burial of local Lashkar militant in 2014 in Kakpora area of Pulwama Abu Dujana present his self-first time, and also attended the funeral of Hizbul Commander Burhan Wani in Tral area of South Kashmir last year in July.
Acting on specific intelligence input about the presence of militants in Hakripora village of Pulwama, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area, a police official said.
The security forces have stopped firing in Pulwama, but the manhunt for other militants are still underway. Heavy stone pelting is said to have begun around the terrorist hideout.
