News Claim: On social media, one or more false messages circulate daily. A statement announcing the UGC NET exam postponement is currently going viral. It is being claimed in the viral message that, the UGC NET exam 2022 has been postponed. The notice going viral further claims that the new dates will be notified on the NTA website.

A letter pad resembling a National Testing Agency going viral on social media reads, NTA will be held on 12th, 13th and 14th August 2022 for Junior Research Fellowship and Eligibility for Assistant Professor UGC-National Eligibility Test (NET). Will conduct December 2021 and June 2022 (merged cycles). It further claimed that the computer-based exam has been postponed due to some reasons.

News Verification:  PIB fact check revealed that no such notice has been issued by NTA. Apart from this, the government has dismissed this information as fake. The government clarified that; DG NTA has not issued this notice. The fake notice created a lot of panic among the students for which the NTA also had to clarify that no such decision was taken.

The Press Information Bureau (PIB) of the Government of India has also shared the information and told that this viral notice is fake. PIB further claimed that no such notice has been issued by NTA. Earlier, NTA had released the admit cards for UGC-NET December 2021 and June 2022 (merged cycle). The first phase examinations for the merged circles were conducted in July on multiple dates.

News Verdict: The Press Information Bureau (PIB) has also shared the information and told that this viral notice is fake. PIB further claimed that no such notice has been issued by NTA.
