Fact Check: Has Subramanian Swamy joined Congress

News Claim: An image of Subramanian Swamy went viral because of Delhi BJP leader Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga after his tweet in which he claimed that Swamy has joined Congress.

Viral message on WhatsApp today, Social Media claims:

News Verification: Delhi BJP leader Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga made this blunder and was not clever enough to identify that Subramanian Swamy was not in the picture which was tweeted by him. The picture has gained over 10k likes on Social Media.

As per the picture which was tweeted by Bagga, In the picture, Rahul Gandhi can be seen addressing a press conference. A man behind in the picture is circled as Subramanian Swamy.

The picture is from Dec 2018. As per Getty Images,

The picture was tweeted by ANI on Dec 19, 2018. It wrote, “Rahul Gandhi: In the middle of the meeting(of opposition leaders),we were told that RBI Guv has resigned because he could no longer work with govt. There was consensus in the room that we've to stop BJP's assault on our institutions- CBI, RBI, EC & on the constitution.#UrjitPate”

On further zooming in the picture, we found that the man in the picture is wearing glasses.

Swamy has been never seen in public wearing glasses.

On looking closely we can confirm that the man in the picture is not Swamy.
