News Verification: The claim with the viral image is false. This picture of the injured policeman is not of Bareilly but of Prayagraj, where GRP head constable Chintamani Yadav shot himself with his government pistol.

In our investigation after searching the image with the help of reverse search and some keywords, we found a report of 'Dainik Bhaskar' . According to the news, on 20 September 2021, a GRP head constable Chintamani Yadav shot himself with his government pistol in the police line on Monday. The head constable's body was found in the toilet of the police line. He was posted in Kanpur and had come to Prayagraj on escort duty. Neither the police nor the family members are able to tell anything about why Chintamani took this step. Khuldabad police have sent the body for post-mortem.

Bareilly Police has also made a tweet denying this misleading post. In the tweet, Bareilly Police has written, “सोशल मीड़िया प्लेटफॉर्म पर एक पुलिसकर्मी की खून से लथपथ फोटो लगाकर भ्रामक कथन के साथ पोस्ट वायरल किये जाने एवं  भ्रामक एवं अफवाह फैलाने वालों के विरुद्ध की जा रही कार्यवाही के सम्बन्ध में वरिष्ठ पुलिस अधीक्षक जनपद बरेली की बाईट ।”

News Verdict: It becomes clear from the investigation that an attempt is being made to give a communal colour to the incident of the suicide of a constable in Prayagraj.
