Facts Check News: The insect in cabbage you are referring to is called a tapeworm, also called a cabbage worm by farmers. It gets its name from its tendency to eat several plants from the cabbage family. Cabbage worm is the worm whose larvae feed on cabbages and other cole crops. Not only cabbage, this dangerous tapeworm feeds on plants including broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, collards, kale, mustard greens, turnip greens, radishes, turnips, rutabagas and kohlrabi.

A few types of cabbage worms can be found throughout the world, and each one has different characteristics. These pests can often be controlled by either manually removing them from the plants, or spraying the plants with an organic fertilizer.

When humans eat these vegetables without cleaning them properly, the tapeworm eggs enter human bodies, causing harm.

It would seem a shame to discard this vegetable just because a relatively tiny pest left a few droppings on it. Wash the vegetable well, and cook as planned. Or, after cleaning them well, you could eat the vegetables raw in slaw or salad. But if you have any hesitation, cook it to eliminate your concerns.

Few home remedies from my Dadi Amma - It is said that if you dampen cabbage leaves and sprinkle them with cornmeal, the caterpillars will eat the meal, swell, and die.

In my grandpa’s age, people sprinkled rye flour over cabbage plants in the early morning. The flour dehydrated the cabbage worms.

Last but not least, There is nothing in this world that can withstand fire.  poor insect is no exception.

So what if pork tapeworm (parasite) invade the cabbage and the cabbage is eaten raw, there is every possibility that it may enter into the body of human. For more information what complications that tapeworm entails, it’s better to consult a physician.

Hope now all of you got an idea it’s not good to blame insects every time for all human problems.

Tapeworm reaches us through raw or crumbly vegetables, especially leafy vegetables. After reaching the stomach, this worm first reaches the brain through the intestines, then the veins with the blood flow.

If these worms reach someone's mind, then they begin to fall. In the beginning, there are no signs of it. But symptoms like headache, fatigue, deficiency of vitamins are visible. Tapeworm is up to 30 years of age. Once a tapeworm comes into the body of a person,  surgery might be needed to stop further growth.

Though the insect can be dangerous, but it can be killed. Now, what if the cabbage is boiled and cooked, well now there is every possibility that both insect and tapeworm would be killed.
