News Verification: Pakistani javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem congratulate gold medalist Neeraj Chopra as his role model? This tweet was liked and shared more than 22,000 times on social media.

India's Neeraj Chopra on Saturday created history by winning a gold medal in the javelin throw event of the Tokyo Olympics. Neeraj threw a long distance of 87.58m to win the gold, However, the Pakistan javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem’s hope of bagging an Olympic medal were dashed as he finished fifth with his best throw measuring 84.62m.  

Since then, a tweet made by a Twitter handle ("ArshadNadeemPak") named after Arshad Nadeem is in the news. The tweet read in English, "Congratulations to my idol #NeerajChopra for winning, Sorry Pakistan I could not win a gold medal for you".

This tweet has now been deleted, but before it was deleted, thousands of people had liked and retweeted this tweet. This alleged tweet of Nadeem is being highly appreciated outside Pakistan. In the comment section, many people have praised Nadeem for describing Neeraj as their role model and congratulated him for doing well in the javelin throw competition. Some people are also raising the question of whether Nadeem deleted this tweet under pressure from the people of Pakistan or the government.

As per the information available, this Twitter account is fake and does not belong to the original Pakistan Athlete name and javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem. The fake account is not verified on Twitter itself. Arshad Nadeem does not have an account on Twitter.

In this regard, we found a tweet by Abdul Ghaffar, a journalist of Pakistan's media house 'Dawn'. Abdul wrote in his tweet that the original Twitter handle of Arshad is '@Arshadnadeem76". According to Abdul, this has been confirmed to him by Arshad Nadeem himself. However, this account is as well not verified
