News CLAIM: A photo has been becoming viral on social media since Ramadan started. The two pictures and conditions are being compared between Ramadan and Navratri. People have shared the picture and claimed that in Ramadan how people are flouting the rules by not following the lockdown. Whereas in Navratri, there was complete desertion in Delhi.

TRUTH & Verification

The photo which is being described as Delhi photo of Navratri is a photo of Jammu. The other photo is definitely from Delhi. Social media also claims that both these photos were shared by ANI. One photo was shared by ANI while the other was shared by PTI.

Image 1: In Google reverse image search, we found this photo in an article in India Today. The article stated that this photo was taken by news agency PTI on 1 April. This is a view of Jammu and Kashmir during the lockdown. After looking at this image carefully, it appears written on the JMC (Jammu Municipal Corporation). It is also confirmed that this is a picture of Jammu.

 

As per dtnext, the image was added to the website on 10th April. The article headline says all the truth about the news, the headline is “110 people arrested in Kashmir for violating lockdown”. The news further says, Police arrested 110 people from different areas of Kashmir on Friday for violating the lockdown imposed to contain the spread of coronavirus.

Image: 2 this photo was shared by news agency ANI on 24 April. This is a market located in the Shastri Park area of Delhi. This time Ramadan has started on 23 April.

 

It is clear from the investigation that the two pictures shared are from different location and time, while one os from Jammu and other from New Delhi. The photo has been spread on social media by giving it a communal color.

VERDICT: False, both the pictures are from different places
