New Delhi, October 21: The Supreme Court on Friday pulled up Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and other concerned authorities over alarming garbage problem in the New Delhi.
The apex court has directed AAP to devise a plan under which the garbage could be timely disposed.
"It's a bully who blames others for problems. Don't say MLAs have no responsibility in keeping the city clean. You have large number of MLAs and you must ask them to spread awareness about keeping the city clean," the SC said to AAP govt.
"45 meters of height of garbage in places are alarming," the SC bench said. Earlier, on October 17 as well the apex court had expressed concern over the issue and mentioned that the people are dying due to lack of proper disposal of waste.
Before that, on October 6, Supreme Court had criticised the authorities over the poor handling of dengue and chikungunya menace in Delhi and observed that they were 'not interested' in making efforts and people were left to suffer.
The bench had directed that participants should discuss the steps to be taken to prevent the problem faced by people of Delhi this year and also the future measures. A fine of Rs 25,000 was also imposed on Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain for failing to file an affidavit disclosing the names of officials whom he earlier alleged did not cooperate in the issue.
