Balasore (Odisha), Agni-V: It was India’s day on Monday, 26th December, 2016, when it successfully test fired the Agni-V its home developed intercontinental surface-to-surface nuclear capable ballistic missile, at the cost of Odisha in Balasore District.

The Agni-V missile has a range of over 5,000 kilometers.

The Prime Minister, Modi Tweeted “The successful test firing of Agni V is the result of the hardwork of DRDO & its scientists. I congratulate them. @DRDO_India”

Another tweet “Successful test firing of Agni V makes every Indian very proud. It will add tremendous strength to our strategic defence.”

The three-stage, solid propellant surface-to-surface missile was test-fired from a mobile launcher from launch complex-4 of the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at about 1105 hours, DRDO sources said.

About Agni 5 Test:

The first test of Agni-V, about 17-metre long and weighing over 50 ton, was conducted on 19 April 2012, second was on 15 September 2013 and the third on 31 January 2015 from the same base.

This is fourth and the last of the test being done on the Agni V. The launch was done at around 11.05 am from a mobile launcher complex-4 of the Integrated Test Range (ITR), defence sources said.

Agni-I:  The first test of Agni-5 was conducted on 19 April 2012, with 700 km range.

Agni-II: The second was on 15 September 2013, with 2,000 km range

Agni-III: The third on 31 January 2015 from the same base, with 2500 Km range.

Agni-IV: 3,500 kilometers range.
