India, Lucknow, October 17: Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav  has started taking the advice of his cousin Ram Gopal Yadav on who canbe next CM face of samajwadi party.

Netaji on Sunday announced that son Akhilesh Yadav will be the presumptive chief minister of SP. The move came a day after Ram Gopal Yadav wrote the letter to Mulayam Singh over the issue and Netaji went to see him at his residence in New Delhi.

In the letter, Ram Gopal had warned brother that if their party failed to win less than 100 seats out of 403 in Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, he will be blamed for the downfall. Thus, by declaring Akhilesh as CM candidate, Mulayam Singh is trying to end the ongoing tug of war in the family.

SP national vice president and Mulayam’s confidante Kiran Moy Nanda on Monday talked to the media and reiterated that Akhilesh remained the party’s CM candidate. He said the party was confident of coming back to power and Akhilesh retaining the CM’s post over his development works in the state.

When questioned about Mulayam's recent statement over naming Akhilesh as CM face, he mentioned the party president was only referring to the process the chief minister after elections are over. “Netaji (Mulayam) was only talking about the procedure, when a scribe asked a specific question.”

“Akhilesh has always been the party’s chief ministerial candidate with the consent of our party president,” he said. Nanda informed the second phase of ‘Mulayam Sandesh Rath’ would begin from November 9 with the same objective.

While Mulayam Singh has always sided with brother Shivpal Yadav, his son Akhilesh Yadav has received the backing of Ram Gopal Yadav. Though Shivpal Yadav is Mulayam's favourite brother, he is often at loggerheads with Akhilesh's close aide Ram Gopal Yadav.

In his letter as well, Ram Gopal had backed Akhilesh for CM face. He said, "Akhilesh is undoubtedly the most popular leader of the state and under him, Uttar Pradesh has seen unprecedented development projects. If the party has to win the election, Akhilesh must be declared its Chief Ministerial candidate."
