New Delhi, Dec 30: In order to make the railways in line with the digital India various schemes has come up in the Indian railway as well which will help it in going towards cashless economy.

The Railway Ministry has initiated some additional package of incentives and measures which shall be made effective from 1st January 2017.

Yatri Ticket Suvidha Kendras (YTSKs):

The Ministry of Railways has decided to instruct the Yatri Ticket Suvidha Kendras (YTSKs) to install Point of sale (POS) machines and accept payments through all banks credit/debit cards for issuing both reserved and unreserved tickets. YTSKs are encouraged to accept payments through other modes of payment like UPI, USSD, e-wallet, Aadhar enabled payments system.

Jan Sadharan Ticket Booking Seva (JTBs)

The Jan Sadharan Ticket Booking Seva (JTBs) have also been instructed to accept payments through other modes of payment like UPI, USSD, e-wallets, Aadhar enabled payments system to issue unreserved tickets.

Discount in Booking Retiring Room:

The Ministry of Railways has also decided to allow 5% Discount for booking of Retiring Room through digital means like using debit/credit cards.

Discount on fair Ticket

The Railways Ministry have decided that 0.5% discount on the base fare of season tickets (Monthly/quarterly/Half yearly/yearly) over suburban section shall be granted in case  the payment is made through digital means through credit card, debit card etc.

Other charges like Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP) surcharge, Mela surcharge, service tax etc. if applicable shall be levied separately on the base fare arrived at it after giving the 0.5% concession.
