Caste Based Politics: One of the most important reason why India for so many years lagging behind and why we have not been  able to progress like other countries can be directly associated to case based politics and appeasement politics, keeping one section happy and other always unhappy.

This caste based politics has also leading to imbalance in the society. Where one section is becoming more secure and the another in that region more vulnerable.

However after the present Modi-Amit Shah UP Election fight back against all the Odds is just giving one thought to the minds that yes India is moving towards a society where caste can be no more an issue.

Another way to look at the UP Election results is we should look beyond the caste based politics in India, and then only we all can progress as a nation. While tackling a question on Saturday on whether BJP got the caste equation right, Amit Shah said, “Move beyond casteism. Politics of performance has won. This is a defeat for dynastic and caste-based politics”.

It is  a time when we move beyond 1990’s mindset, beyond the 2014 mindset which many still think was just a coincidence that BJP won in UP. BJP once again repeated now in 2017 to prove all wrong.

Here are top reasons why we all must move further beyond the case based politics.

Truly rare achievement By BJP

Recently Nitish kumar the chief minister of Bihar Congratulating the Bharatiya Janata Party, Narendra Modi for its splendid victory in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, The Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said the opposing parties ignored the fact that demonetisation gave satisfaction to the poor. Nitish kumar was the first to oppose Modi and break the Partnership with Modi, when Modi was elevated to the National Level. But now even he has moved ahead with time and giving frequent support to Modi may be just with words but he is giving.

If the UP State can rewrite the electoral history of Uttar Pradesh itself  by giving over 300 seats to a single party, a rarely achieved anywhere, leave alone India’s most culturally diverse state. Then it is to reason that we must all change our intrinsic understanding about what drives the normal electorate in modern India.

Is the Indian electorate is coming out of the caste and community bounded society that they have so long been subjected to.

Think about the ruling Samajwadi Party (SP) move to join hands with the Congress.

Why did Akhilesh thought that its electoral vote will rise to more that by 100 once it joins hands with the Congress Party, it fit to allot over a 100 seats to Rahul Gandhi-led Congress which has come as a failure everywhere and has even pulled down its partners in alliance? It was only because the SP chief minister thought that aligning with Congress will prevent a division of the Muslim votes.

Akhilesh Singh the UP CM suffered from a self created wound even before the polls. Akhilesh was well set to be the CM of Uttar Pradesh until he planned to join hands with Rahul Gandhi, he damages his own brand from the brand created of development to the brand created for the appeasement.

BJP Wins the Muslim Dominated Dadri and Deoband

BJP has won two of the Muslim dominated, Dadri and Deoband without fielding a single Muslim candidate. This shows Akhilesh, Rahul and Mayawati were wrong and where Narendra Modi-Amit Shah were proved right.

The Congress, BSP and SP self declared secular parties trapped Muslims, many of whom are young and aspirational, looking for jobs, opportunities and better standards of living, in their identities whereas Modi liberated them as citizens with an equal say in India’s nation-building process.

When Modi said electricity for all the time and graveyard comments this was meant for giving equal opportunity to all and giving the Indian Muslims come out of the shadows of the past.

All the so called secular parties drove fear among all the religion but Modi talked about hope and equality.

This same language of equalness had brought him to power in 2014 and it reinforced his popularity three years later in what may be termed as a quasi-midterm polls.

Caste Based Politics repeated again and again

The story of caste based politics has been said again and again by this old parties especially the Congress party. The minority community and especially the Muslim who are now more educated and mobile friendly have come out of the age of caste based politics.

The Mandal movement that had as its fulcrum of social justice for the backward, semi-backward classes and the subalterns is now in the natural process of death as more and more Indians are pulled out of desperate poverty.

Winds flowing change your direction

Most of the regional caste based parties were coping with the winds of change by turning more and more inclusive from being common outfits.

BSP, Mayawati’s move from ‘bahujan’ to ‘sarvajan sukhay’ as BSP turned from a party of Dalits to a party to a party represented upper castes – quite against its grain under Kanshi Ram.

Is the Moment Over for the Regional Parties

Looks like it will become a past, Parties like the RJD, JD(U), SP, BSP will find it harder and harder to keep themselves afloat if they do not rethink their ideological changes and initiate a change in orientation.

The regional and National Parties must think above the caste based politics and the politics of development for all the section of society and especially who is poor. Development must not be only for a section of society but to all the people who are poor.

As said by someone All feels hunger, whether he be of any religion, not only for the certain caste.

The birth of BJP’s stunning victory in UP lies in the fact that Modi has recognised this and is experimenting more on this, though some of the leaders within often make some noise on the caste based politics.

For Modi there are two sections in the society, the rich and the poor and he has proceeded to co-opt, adopt, change and represent the voice of the poor with all his might.

Modi has moved from the traders and upper caste based politics to the pro poor based politics and not just in words but with action.

Remember the jan dhan yojna, clean India and lots, direct money to the account and several other. It is here that Modi’s opponents in UP lost the game.

The SP, BSP, Congress and other parties remained stuck in their set-in-stone caste based equations (BSP’s Dalit-Muslim combine or SP’s Yadav-Muslim base) while Modi erased with his cross caste appeal.

The result indicates that a large part of SP and BSP’s voter bases (Jatav and non-Jatav Dalits, Yadavs, OBCs, Nishaths, Kurmis) broke away in favour of BJP – including a section of Muslims.

The lesson for BJP’s rivals is clear, learn from Modi this time and move with the times or be left behind.
