News Verification: The video is widely shared on Social Media claims, “Mbaise people going to protest on behalf of Emeka Ihedioha Then boom they hear Gunshots”.

The Nigerian Supreme Court on Tuesday canceled the election of Governor Emeka Ihedioha of Imo State and declared Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress as winner of the election.. The apex court upheld the petition of Hope Uzodinma and declared him as the elected governor of Imo.

Emeka Ihedioha of Nigeria’s main opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was elected governor of Imo eight months ago. But after his rival  Hope Uzodinma of the ruling All Progressives Congress challenged Ihedioha’s victory, the Supreme Court decided in his favour on January 14, 2020.

In March 2019, the ruling government was criticized on the basis that they initially finished fourth in the March 9, 2019, gubernatorial poll, before the Supreme Court ruled that he actually finished first.

The video shared on Social media is not after the Supreme Court ruling, but before the ruling on 13 January. If you see the video it is fast forward and backward.

There has been no reporting of such crowd gathering against the Supreme Court Ruling.
