New Delhi: If you are in Delhi and are taking vegetables, beware, do not do not use plastic bags by mistake. The National Green Tribunal has imposed an interim ban on the use of plastic bags. On doing so, you may have to pay a fine of Rs. 5,000.
The National Green Tribunal imposed an interim ban on the use of alphanumeric plastic bags with less than 50 microns in the entire national capital. A bench chaired by NGT President Justice Swatanter Kumar said that if any such plastic plastic is recovered a person, then he will have to pay an environmental compensation of Rs 5,000.
The Tribunal also directed the Delhi Government to seize such stores of plastic bags within a week from today. Along with this, Delhi Government and Delhi Pollution Control Committee have been asked to file an affidavit through a senior official. The Tribunal has asked the city to inform about how the instructions are being implemented in the context of waste management, especially in the context of plastic.
It is important that the green panel had banned for one year from January 2017 on the use of disposable plastic in Delhi and NCR. The Delhi Government was issued a directive to reduce dump waste.
This is the reason why if you are in Delhi and using plastic bags, then avoid now. They can be expensive to use. The Tribunal is conscious about making people aware. Protecting the environment can be done only by making people aware.
