Uttar Pradesh: The Uttar Pradesh government will soon launch Pink buses for women safety. UP government will provide a safe journey to women. The union government's Ministry of Women and Child Development has sanctioned funds for the 50 buses from its 'Nirbhaya Fund'. The staff in these buses including conductor is also women. The Pink buses installed panic buttons of emergency. The ministry has mandated the state government to buy the buses and also to purchase and install CCTV cameras in the other 12,500 buses owned by the UPSRTC. A presentation for these buses was made before ministry officials on July 21 by the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) authorities.

This is a good step taken by UP government because after the 2012 Delhi gang rape or the Nirbhaya rape case brought a lot of issues right from the power of youth, to the security of women in the democratic country which boasts of being a female nation. The case garnered a lot of attention and became synonymous with women's rights for safety in this country as well as outside.

In the last few months and years, crime against women in India has increased to a great extent. According to the survey and statistics, it is found that every two out of three women have suffered around two to five times sexual harassment in the last year. By the survey of Child Development Department and Delhi government’s Women around 70% of the women in national capital have fear of their safety.

The effort is admirable and shows that the government’s thinking on the right track and this effort of UP government willl help women in positive way.
