UP Election 2017: The Election Commission today reserved its verdict on the Samajwadi Cycle only to be announced on coming Monday.
The Election Commission of India has all the rights to recall the party symbol if it finds that the symbol provided by it to the party is under threat due to conflict interests and in the present case even it looks like both the father and son duo are going to lose their bicycle ride.
The cycle has been the most important asset for Mulayam Singh Yadav ever since 1993. He came to power twice after having the Cycle as a party symbol. But this time ever since 2012, since when he made his successor his son Akhilesh Yadav the CM of UP, the old guards are not happy and this dissatisfaction have gone more with each passing days.
The cycle have given Akhilesh so much power over time that he had now claim of over 205 party members in his support and Mulayam has only the support of some old party members which doesn’t looks sufficient for the EC to hand over the cycle to Mulayam Singh Yadav easily.
Looking all this EC further reserved its order till Monday.
Gauri Naulankar, lawyer of Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav said: "Mulayamji is the legal President of the party since the beginning. So, no one can remove him from the position especially after holding illegal conferences."
While Kapil Sibal said to Nasim Zaide that it is Akhilesh Party as per Gauri.
Sibal told that the EC has heard both sides and has reserved its verdict as to whom to allot the party election symbol 'cycle'.
