At one point at the start of the preparation of the 2017 general election AAP party was leading the political race, but somewhere down the line the popularity has come down drastically.

Navjot Singh Sidhu, it the top contender for the upcoming Punjab Election, who can be running for the post of the Chief Minister. Earlier Kejriwal has tried his best to bring him into the AAP party. But since the goodwill of Navjot Singh Sidhu is much higher than Kejriwal, things could not be sorted out yet and still no decisions were made. AAP being a one man head party can’t afford to have multiple head. But in politics no one can be sure that what is going to happen next.

Sucha Singh Chhotepur, who has earlier, became one of the powerful leaders from the AAP party. Earlier he was state convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for Punjab. He is the former state Minister of Tourism and a former independent member of the Punjab Legislative Assembly. He is now at the receiving end from the party.

"There’s a deep frustration among volunteers due to the negative development taking place within the party in Punjab. The issues in Punjab are different from Delhi. There’s no CM face in AAP for Punjab and now this crisis in leadership seems to be jeopardizing our victory prospects in the polls,” the volunteer added.

Arvind Kejriwal style of functioning has also caused a huge set back to the shifting scenarios of of the Punjab general election. It has for the time and again shown that it just like any other political party.

Pargat Singh, the suspended Shiromani Akali Dal MLA, who too wants a fresh beginning. He is a former Indian hockey player and his playing position was of full back. He was considered as one of the world's best defenders erstwhile. He captained Indian men's hockey team at 1992 Barcelona Olympics and 1996 Atlanta Olympics. He was working with Punjab police before taking a plunge into politics.

More than half of AAP's 12 zonal heads in Punjab have issued an ultimatum to Kejriwal that Chhotepur must be reinstated. They have called for a meeting on Sep 2. AAP, which is considered strong contender in upcoming assembly election, is on the back foot now.
