What is Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF)?

The Vivekananda International Foundation Chanakyapuri Delhi is an Indian public policy think-tank affiliated to the Vivekananda Kendra, which is a charitable organisation affiliated to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). It is considered to be the think-tank closely aligned with the Prime Minister Modi led Government of India.

1. Vivekananda International Foundation Ajit Doval, NSA.

Ajit Doval, The founder of Vivekananda International Foundation (Delhi Chanakyapuri) and  National Security Advisor (NSA) to the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. He founded it in the year 2009, Soon after his retirement from the Intelligence Bureau (IB) in 2005.  He initiated this career, with the help of Kerala-based Vivekananda Kendra.

The Vivekananda International Foundation  have now led to the selection of several top positions in the Indian Government, I would not be wrong if I call VIF the new Naukri.com for the Modi Government.

Ajit Kumar Doval, IPS, PM, KC, PPM is a former Indian intelligence and law enforcement officer. Since 30 May 2014, is the 5th and current National Security Adviser (NSA) to Prime Minister of India.

2. Vivekananda International Foundation Nripendra Misra, Principal Secretary

Nripendra Misra is an Indian civil servant who is serving as the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister of India, NAMO, Ever since 27 May 2014.

3. Vivekananda International Foundation VK Saraswat, Niti Aayog

Vijay Kumar Saraswat is an Indian scientist who had formerly served as the Director General of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). He has also acted as the Chief Scientific Advisor to the Indian Minister of Defence. He Retired on 31 May 2013. He is currently the member of NITI Aayog.

Saraswat played a key role as a scientist in the development of the Prithvi missile and later to its induction in the Indian armed forces. He is awarded with the Padma Shri from the Government of India.

4. Vivekananda International Foundation Bibek Debroy, Niti Aayog

A renowned economist Bibek Debroy (born 25 January 1955). Since March 2007, he has been professor at Centre for Policy Research, New Delhi.

Mr. Debroy has been a member of NITI Aayog ever since it started on 1 January 2015. He is the positive think tank of Indian Government. Mr. Debroy brought out a final report seeking to appoint an independent regulator and doing away with Rail Budget altogether.

5. Vivekananda International Foundation Arvind Panagariya, Niti Aayog

Arvind Panagariya is an Indian-American economist and a professor of economics at Columbia University, who is the current Vice-Chairman of the Niti Aayog of India. He was previously Chief Economist at the Asian Development Bank. He holds a Ph.D in economics from Princeton University.

6. Vivekananda International Foundation Amitabh Kant, NITI Aayog

Amitabh Kant is an Indian government official. As of 2015 he was CEO, NITI Aayog (National Institution for Transforming India).  

7. Vivekananda International Foundation KG Suresh, DG-IIMC

K G Suresh is a New Delhi based senior journalist, columnist, blogger, political commentator, Communication Strategist, public speaker, media trainer and educator.

K G Suresh is presently working as Director General, Indian Institute of Mass Communication – India’s premier media training.

8. Vivekananda International Foundation A Surya Prakash, Prasar Bharti Head.

He has served as Chief of Bureau of Indian Express from 1988 to 1993. Political Editor of Eenadu Group during 1994-95 and Editor of Zee News.

Nripendra and Doval proposed the name of A Surya Prakash for the post of Prasar Bharti's head. He is an Indian journalist and chairperson of Prasar Bharati.

9. Vivekananda International Foundation Anil Baijal, LG New Delhi

The last was yet to come in the form of Anil Baijal, as the 21st Lieutenant Governor of Delhi. Looks like other departments to be corrected Delhi need more refinement ever since Najeeb Jang resigned; He has served as Union Home Secretary under the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government. He was also a former vice chairman of Delhi Development Authority.

It will be interesting to see how Arvind Kejriwal, led AAP react to Anil Baijal recruitment and will be able to sustain the injury and run his government smoothly in New Delhi.

Looks like it is going to be more direct fight between Modi, Ajit Doval (the Main architect of Vivekananda International Foundation and the Indian James Bond.) and Arvind Kejriwal.

None of the 9 gems Anil Baijal, A Surya Prakash, Arvind Panagariya, Amitabh Kant, Ajit Doval, KG Suresh, VK Saraswat, Bibek Debroy, Nripendra Misra  have disappointment Narendra Modi till date and it seems like more resumes would be coming to the central government only to be filled without rejection.
