New Delhi: In the meeting of the BJP Parliamentary Board, NDA has been stamped on the name of Venkaiah Naidu for the Vice Presidential candidate. Union minister JP Nadda proposed the name of Naidu, which everyone agreed on.

After the announcement of the name, Naidu will go to meet Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Murli Manohar Joshi. According to the information, Naidu will file nomination tomorrow at 11 am. Earlier, he would resign from the post of Urban Development Minister and Information Technology Minister.

Who is Venkaiah Naidu?

Venkaiah Naidu is one of the senior ministers of the Modi government and is one of the oldest BJP leaders in South India. Apart from this, he was the BJP President from 2002 to 2004. Before joining BJP in the Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh, Venkaiah Naidu has made significant contributions to the RSS and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad in the 70's.

During the Emergency, he was associated with Jai Prakash Narayan's movement and at that time he also went to jail. 1978 was the first time since the MLA from Nellore in 1983 became MP in 1998. Now he's Rajasthan Rajya Sabha MP and his role in the Modi government as a troubleshooter.

Gopal Krishna Gandhi's name on behalf of the opposition

Under the leadership of the Congress, the UPA has declared its candidate for the post of Vice President. Vice Presidential candidate Gopal Krishna Gandhi on behalf of UPA, the Governor of West Bengal, is the grandson of Mahatma Gandhi. The 18 opposition parties, including the Congress, have announced their support to Gopal Krishna.

Voting on August 5

Voting for the post of Vice President will be on August 5. The last date for filing nomination papers for this post is July 18. There are 790 members in the electoral college for vice-president, including members of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. The ruling coalition enjoys a tremendous majority in the electoral college.
