In a post shared on Twitter, the Ministry of Railways has written- 'It has been published on some social media platforms and digital news channels that in recent times, the Railways has changed the policy of carry-on baggage. In this regard, it is clarified that no circular/order has been issued by Indian Railways in this regard yet. The policy which is in place at present is very old and is in effect for more than 10 years.

A passenger can carry up to 40 kg of luggage in sleeper class with him at unpaid time. At the same time, there is an exemption to carry 50 kg of luggage up to AC-Tier. Up to 70 kg of luggage can be carried in First Class AC. In case of excess baggage, the passenger may have to pay extra charges.
