A prominent Muslim cleric was arrested yesterday by the Special Investigating Team (SIT) probing the Ponzi scam run by I Monetary Advisory (IMA), the ₹ 1,350-crore IMA Jewels scam. He was arrested on 11th July 2019 by the Special Investigating Team (SIT) probing the ₹ 1,350-crore IMA Jewels scam. The 65-year-old moulvi allegedly encouraging the public to invest their money in the firm.
As per SIT, Haneef Afsar Azeezi helped IMA Jewels and Mansoor Khan, who is absconding, by declaring the return earned from investments as "halal (pious)"
News verdict: The man in the video is Haneef Afsar Azeezi accused of the Ponzi scam, not someone whose wife has run away.
