The congress and all other major political parties are all out to turn the table back on the BJP government against the demonetization of the Indian currency notes. Now BLAMING PM NAMO for the problems being faced by people, the Congress on Saturday demanded that if he is serious about stamping out black money, the government should first set up an inquiry commission into the BJP’s spending in the 2014 General Election and reveal source of the party’s funding in the upcoming Assembly polls.

One of the Congress party leader Kapil Sibal addressing to the media said, that if the Prime Minister is serious about rooting out black money, he should “set up a commission of inquiry with reference to all the money spent by BJP before Mr Modi became the Prime Minister, because the kind of money that was spent (on poll campaign), which was visually displayed on all TV channels, suggested — I can’t say that it is proof — that a lot of black money went into it…. If he is honest about it, he should set up an inquiry…only then will we know Modi means what he says…at the moment it is only jumla.”

Sibal said, the government is “playing a joke” on the people by taking a hasty decision without “applying its mind” and without “due care and caution.”

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi appealed to party workers to help those standing in lines by providing water and assisting them in filling up forms.

Sibal said, “The (bank) account is mine, the money is mine, I have paid tax on that money …then why should (I) stand in a line? It is my constitutional right. Is it Narendra Modi’s money? Is it the BJP government’s money?”

Stating that Modi “used to say he is a common man”, he said, “Is all this being done from the common man’s point of view? In such a situation, when the Prime Minister should have been in the country, he is away in Japan.”

Sibal said it was “wrong” for the Prime Minister to leave for Japan “immediately” after the demonetisation decision. “That means he doesn’t care about what is happening…the kind of pain that this country is going through because of the fact that they had not taken appropriate measures” to ensure a smooth transition, he said.

He pointed out that BJP had slammed the UPA government when the RBI had decided to withdraw all pre-2005 currency notes from April 1, 2014. BJP spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi had termed it as “anti-poor and a mockery with the poor”, he said.
