Lucknow, December 24: The rising cases of Omicron, a new variant of the coronavirus, have increased the risk of a third wave of the pandemic in the country. In view of the threat of Omicron, on Friday, the Yogi Adityanath government of UP also announced a night curfew in the state.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath held a high-level meeting with the officials regarding the situation of coronavirus, after which it was decided that night curfew will be implemented in UP from December 25, which will continue from 11 pm to 5 am.

What will be impacted?

The curfew will be in place from 11 pm to 5 am. Maximum of 200 people allowed for events like weddings.

As per the Union Health Ministry data, India recorded 122 cases of the Omicron variant of coronavirus in a span of 24 hours, the highest so far, pushing its tally in the country to 358, 114 of which have either recovered or migrated.
