Sadia- Dhola: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is going to complete its three years in office and on the completion of three years the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi is going to inaugurate India's longest bridge in Assam close to the border with China on Friday, May 26, 2017.
The longest bridge of India is three lane, 9.15 KM long bridge built over the great and mighty Brahmaputra River will link Sadia in Assam and Dhola in Arunachal Pradesh. The new bridge is going to be a little longer than the bridge on Bandra-Worli Sea link, in Mumbai which is 5.6 KM long.
The bridge will ensure connectivity for 24/7 between Assam and the eastern part of Arunachal Pradesh. This bridge will ensure connectivity even in the time of floods.
The Bridge will be saving a huge amount of petrol, it is estimated to save Rs 10 lakh per day petrol.
The bridge will link Dhola to Sadia, which is located near the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border -- in Assam`s Tinsukia district and is expected to cut travel time to just one hour from existing over 6 hours travel journey. The place Sadia is all the birthplace of the music legend Dr Bhupen Hazarika.
The Dhola-Sadia is capable to withstand a weight of a 60 tonne battle tank.
The Indian army will now take less time to travel from Assam to post along the India-china border in Arunachal Pradesh. This bridge will help the Indian army in fast mobilization and movement of troop’s along with heavy equipment to the front areas.
The bridge construction started in 2011 and the total cost of the bridge is Rs 2,056 crore. The aerial distance to the Chinese border is less than 100 km.
The Dhola-Sadia is capable of handling earthquakes. The bridge has over 182 piers with seismic buffers.
The Bridge will be helpful in the future as many hydro power projects are coming on the same route.
