Ball ‘thrown’ at Mohammed Siraj; Virat Kohli ‘upset’
Leeds: A ball was thrown at Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj during the first day of the third Test against England at Headingley. This was revealed by wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant after the day’s play on Wednesday (August 25).
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, India was bundled out for a paltry 78. In reply, England was 120/0 at stumps.

Pant, who spoke to the media after the day’s play, said captain Virat Kohli was “upset” over the incident of a ball “thrown” at Siraj when the player was fielding at the boundary during England’s first innings.
"I think, somebody threw a ball inside, at Siraj, so he (Kohli) was upset," Pant said. "You can say whatever you want to chant, but don't throw things at the fielders and all those things. It is not good for cricket, I guess."
During the second Test at Lord’s, which India won, KL Rahul was seen throwing back a champagne cork which had made its way on to the field.
According to reports, in 2016, the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), in a newsletter, had asked the spectators to refrain from aiming the corks towards the field of play.
"In recent times the practice of some members and other spectators opening bottles of champagne in such a way as to allow corks to be projected on to the outfield has been criticised," the letter read.
"Any items which are aimed at the playing area may cause a potential hazard to fieldsmen, and this point has been made formally to the club. Lord's is now the only ground into which members and ticket holders are allowed to bring alcohol, and in order for this arrangement to continue it is important that all members, their guests and other spectators refrain from the practice that has been described."
In January this year, Siraj was racially abused during the Sydney Test against Australia. After the bowler complained the alleged abusers were evicted from the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).
