Lord’s Test win: KL Rahul’s warning to England team

London: After a famous win at Lord’s in the second Test against England on Monday (August 16), Indian opening batsman KL Rahul has sent a warning to the opposition.

On a tense final day, India bounced back to win by 151 runs and take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. The English bowlers had targeted Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami when they were batting and things got heated up in the middle.

There were moments when the English bowlers sledged Bumrah and Shami during the unbroken 89-run partnership for the ninth wicket. And, umpires had to intervene to calm things down.

After the win, Rahul spoke about those moments and said if the opposition goes after one of the players then the whole of the Indian team will get back at the English side.

"With two competitive teams you are going to see a lot of heart and great skills and some words. We don’t mind a bit of banter, but if you go after one of our guys all 11 will come right back. That got us going, and the bowlers were really pumped to go out and have a crack. Really happy with the performance,” Rahul, who scored a century in the first innings, said in the post-match presentation ceremony.

Later, in the press conference, he said, “India as a team are never shy to say a word or two, if someone goes at one of our players and the rest of the 10 guys get pumped, that is the kind of team India are. If you go after one of our guys, that means you are going after the whole team.”

Captain Virat Kohli said, “A bit of tension on the field really motivated us to finish the game.”
