Video: Lord’s dressing room scenes as centurion KL Rahul returns

London: It was a day dominated by India against England on the first day of the second Test at Lord’s on Thursday. And, one man stole the show – it was opening batsman KL Rahul.

Rahul’s scored a superb century at the “Home of Cricket”. It was his sixth Test century and along with fellow opener Rohit Sharma, put on a century stand (126 runs) for the first wicket after being sent into bat by rival skipper Joe Root.

Thanks to Rahul’s unbeaten 127, India ended the day at 276/3. Rohit made 83 and captain Virat Kohli 42.

As Rahul and Ajinkya Rahane returned to the famous Lord’s pavilion, the former was congratulated by his teammates. The official Twitter handle of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a video of the same.

Head coach Ravi Shastri was seen patting Rahul’s back and saying “Superb” to the Karnataka batsman Rahul. Also, the video shows Rahul’s name being put on the Lord’s honours board.

After the end of the day’s play, Rohit spoke to the media and praised Rahul.

"It was probably the best I have seen KL bat and he was in control from ball one till we finished the day today. Very much in control," Rohit said.

"At no given point, it looked like he was confused or thinking too much. He was very clear with his plans and when you trust your plans, it definitely works. I thought today was his day and he made it really count," he added.
